The Cavemen Criticizes The Headies Shortly after Nominations Announcement

Creative Nigerian highlife band, The Cavemen, sent an indirect message to the organizers of The Headies shortly after the nominations were announced.

This year’s Headies Awards show, which is organized to celebrate the Nigerian music scene is scheduled to take place on Sunday 4th September 2022 at the COBB Energy Performing Arts Centre in Atlanta, USA, released its nomination list yesterday, May 24th 2022.

Wizkid, Ayra Starr, and Brymo lead this year’s list of nominees. The Cavemen, consisting of duo Kingsley Okorie, a bassist, and Benjamin James, a drummer, also obtained nominations in the “best alternative song” and “best alternative album” categories.

Despite this, the band took to their official twitter page to convey their point of view on being nominated in the alternative category when, in real act, they are a highlife band.
