Nightlife in Accra just got even more exciting. Night owls who happen to be ardent lovers of indigenous arts and music now have a sanctuary thanks to Kona Live with Kacey Moore.
Every Thursday night at 6pm, enthusiastic crowds gather under the stars of the courtyard of the Kona Café and Grill [on the oxford street opposite Dynasty Chinese Restaurant]. It’s a gorgeous place to celebrate indigenous visual and performing arts whilst sipping a cold drink, savouring comfort foods and passing around a hookah.
This show is the brainchild of award winning songwriter/poet Kacey Moore [who you may happen to remember from the ninth season of Big Brother Africa]. Kona Live with Kacey Moore is a curated program of multidisciplinary visual and performing arts. It provides the podium for musicians, poets, dancers, filmmakers and even painters to showcase their craft to a live audience.
A typical night is dominated by live band music, with both upcoming and well-known musicians stepping on stage to thrill the audience with exhilarating performances. Notable names to have mounted the Kona stage include C-real, Adina Thembi, Qweci and Adomaa amongst many others.
There are also spots for karaoke, spoken word, comedy and drama sketches, music video premieres, short film screening, amongst a host of other activities all for your listening and viewing pleasure.
Interested persons should call 0578481996 for a chance to perform on the show.
