Instagram are gearing up to introduce all-new “Guide” feature. Similar to blog posts, the new Instagram Guides feature allows users to include photos, videos, and words. Creators, public figures, organizations and publishers can curate more informative content on specific subjects.
Blogging looks like the next big addition to Instagram. The Facebook owned application started out focusing primarily on photos, before eventually evolving to accommodate full-length video content with the introduction of the live stream and IGTV features respectively.
The new feature is apparently inspired by the need for Instagram to make accessible to its users information they may find useful in dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic. The initial Instagram Guides will therefore focus predominantly on wellness content.
The new guides feature will however not be available to every user from the jump. It will first be made available to a select few “partner” users chosen by Instagram, and will roll out over time to more users.
The feature can however be viewed by all users who have upgraded to the latest update of the application.
To view a Guide, visit the profile of participating creators or organizations like @afspnational, @heads_together, @vitaalere, @klicksafe, @headspace_aus, @deepikapadukone, @sudahdong and @eenfance.Then, tap the middle icon to view their Guides. In the coming days, you’ll also be able to access Guides within the Explore tab.
According to Instagram via a blog post, “We want Instagram to be a place where you can easily find reliable information and inspiration from your favorite accounts. That’s why we are introducing Guides, a way to more easily discover recommendations, tips and other content from your favorite creators, public figures, organizations and publishers on Instagram.”
