British-Nigerian Duo El’Vee Exalt ‘Balotelli’ in Their new Afrobeats Song

British-Nigerian twin sisters El’Vee celebrate ‘Balotelli’, their favorite footballer in their latest release.

The duo has been quite monumental in propagating the spread of Afrobeats in the UK. They have a creative way of making music that appeals to both Africans in West Africans and those in the diaspora. Taking elements of the booming Afrobeats scene and blending them with popular UK Club and Pop sounds, the result are radio-friendly crossover bangers.

‘Balotelli’, a follow-up on ‘My Body’, celebrates their admiration for the game of football and its most entertaining characters. The 3-minute feel-good banger is an upbeat song with an easygoing vibe that Balotelli is known for. This Tiwezi produced song will get you busting a dance move without even knowing.

The afro-powered KrizBeatz engineered anthem sees E’Vee bring their African roots to the forefront, from the selection of African percussions used, to them singing about Balotelli, a professional Italian footballer who originally is of Ghanaian descent. The syncopated style of singing by Lilian and Vivian (El’Vee) adds extra rhythmic elements to the instrumental, making it a complete package.

“This song was inspired due to our love for football and the talent that is Balotelli. Football has always been something that brings people together, especially in African communities and we wanted to celebrate that passion through our love of Balotelli who has been instrumental to the sport globally”.

The visuals, entirely set in their home country, Nigeria, perfectly captures the energy of the song. We see random people dancing, having fun and basically being themselves. The video for ‘Balotelli’ shows the lifestyle of everyday people in the city of Lagos and serves as a transition into post lockdown.
