Sofie, a singer-songwriter from Ghana, has just released her latest song- Motions after weeks of hype on social media.
performs music with an acoustic, alternative vibe. She is influenced by many genres, including jazz, hip-hop, highlife, rap, and R&B. Sofie plays acoustic and electric guitar—and some piano—and is working on her second EP, expected to be released this summer.
All the instrumentation on the song was recorded live. Speaking about the song, the Ghanaian Boston based artiste said;
“This song is something that I wrote in my bedroom in Accra on Christmas break when I wasn’t okay and was feeling a lot of hurt. I feel like writing the song helped me connect to a part of myself that I hadn’t visited for a while. ‘Rise’ is about knowing yourself, self-love, hope, presence and about getting up when you’ve been knocked down.”
