18XRECORDS: Carving A New Path In The Music Industry

18XRECORDS

If you’re a fan of underground Hip-Hop and African music, you might have heard of 18XRECORDS. This Congolese record label based in London and the USA is making a name for itself by pushing the boundaries of the genre and local scene.

With its roster of established and emerging talent, the label is championing unique voices and carving out a new path in the music industry.

Founded in 2016, 18XRECORDS started releasing music under the name “ASH180.” The label’s early releases showcased a fresh take on Hip-Hop and African music, combining traditional elements with modern production techniques. However, it wasn’t until 2018-2020 that the label rebranded as 18XRECORDS, signaling a new chapter in its evolution.

18XRECORDS

Today, 18XRECORDS is home to some of the most exciting artistes in the underground music scene. OXY18X from Congo, MILIANO18X of Portuguese and Angolan descent, and Prxshh from Lagos, Nigeria are just a few of the talented artistes on the label’s roster. These artistes bring their unique perspectives and experiences to their music, resulting in a sound that is both fresh and timeless.

The label’s latest single, “UDK,” features OXY18X and MILIANO18X and was produced by VibeChief. Clocking in at just two minutes, the song is a showcase of the label’s mission to push musical boundaries. The track seamlessly blends Hip-Hop, R&B, and Afro elements into a cohesive whole, creating a sound that is both unique and accessible.

The goal of the label is to continue pushing these boundaries and championing unique voices. The label’s mission is to provide a platform for artistes who might not have had the opportunity to be heard otherwise. By showcasing new perspectives and sounds, 18XRECORDS is changing the face of Hip-Hop and African music.

The label’s album ‘18X Is The Future,’ released last December, is a testament to this mission. The album showcases the diverse range of talent on the label’s roster, with each track offering something fresh and new. With the album’s success, 18XRECORDS is poised to take things up a notch, pushing further boundaries with their visual releases later this year.

In a world where the music industry can feel stagnant and predictable, 18XRECORDS is a breath of fresh air. By championing unique voices and pushing musical boundaries, the label is representing the future of music. As the industry continues to evolve, the record label is poised to be at the forefront of this change, providing a platform for artistes to be heard and celebrated.
